Geographical Freedom
= Work ANYWHERE and receive payments ANYWHERE (it’s possible with businesses that could leverage on the internet to deliver services - mostly virtual products), buy houses and stay in places that is NOT RESTRICTED or DETERMINED by where your job is. Travel around the world as a traveller, and not a tourist, while income still coming in.

If Retire Young Retire Rich is such a good idea, why should not we go for it ?
(rich doesn’t restricted to measurement merely by money or wealth, it covers soul, health, good relationships and many other valueables)

The keys ? Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose.

1. Autonomy – The urge to direct our own lives.
2. Mastery – The desire to get better and better at something that matters.
3. Purpose – The yearning to do something that we do in the service of something larger than ourselves.

It had been 43 days past the 2010 New Year celebration. What had you done in the past 43 days that could have made your life better? I had made my Resolution 2010: Double The Income, Halves The Works, and is working in achieving this wonderful goal.

If you made a new year resolution of “an article a day” in your content publishing business (i.e. posting just 1 article a day) and do this simple and easily achievable task everyday since first day of 2010, your website would have got 43 articles by now. If each article makes you $0.10 a day in adsense revenue, you are making $4.30 a day now (~ MYR 14.50 a day).

Of course, this could be an over simplified example, but the point here is : Developing a passive residual income will take some perseverance. The steps to getting it done are not difficult, but it requires one thing many people will not put in — consistency.

To further illustrate the point stated above, let’s look at the Law of Large Numbers.

The Law of Large Numbers

I am going to show you a very important business concept here. Let’s look at wikipedia’s definition for the Law of Large Numbers:

“In probability theory, the law of large numbers (LLN) is a theorem that describes the result of performing the same experiment a large number of times. According to the law, the average of the results obtained from a large number of trials should be close to the expected value, and will tend to become closer as more trials are performed.”

Now, let’s look at some important words and the ideas of : “Prospects, Conversion Rate, Clients, No. of Purchase, Purchase Value, and Business Revenue” as shown in the table below.

* Table extracted from promotional effectiveness article. As you can see, an increase of 50% in each section will give a result of +500% in revenue!

Clarity Leads to Power

One of the thing I learned in Money & You Program is “Clarity Leads to Power”. As you may already know, if you failed to plan, you are planning to fail.

Take for example the subject of this email “Double The Income, Halves The Works”. …

For a higher chance to achieve this goal, you could translate it to

“earning $20,000 a month in passive income from my current multiple streams of passive income, while working effectively just 2 hours everyday excluding Saturday and Sunday”

Setting a goal of making $20,000 a month from passive income stream is far more realistic than to become a millionaire in one year’s time (if you are not yet a millionaire and is currently living from paycheck to paycheck by trading your life hours). There is nothing wrong to want to becoming a millionaire, just keep in mind that nothing happens overnight (Rome was not built in a day), NO FREE LUNCH.

Notes:
Rich Dad’s definition of millionaire - “a consistent $1 million in passive income, which is income that comes in regardless of if you work or not, and $5,000,000 in assets, not net worth. Net worth can be an elusive and much-manipulated figure.”

Things Happened For A Reason

For those who were affected by the server downtime, I would like to express our sincere apology if it caused you some trouble.

Things happened for a reason. What were you doing when the server was down?

If you are doing content publishing, could you be still producing the articles even if the server is down? YES! You can still be doing your market research, content sourcing, ideas generation and other related works that does not require any system login!

Could you be writing the article to a word document and save it to the computer first? Could you be editing the images, prepare everything and just upload it to the server when everything is up and running again?

This is a good time to look into your attitude towards your own business. Though this is a very low risk with very good potential of high return business, and it seems nothing to lose even if you are not doing anything when the server is down, it does reflects how you react to crisis.

Please don’t bring bad working attitude or employee mindset into YOUR own business. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

4. I think from this point onwards we need to be 严正看待生意，不能再走宽松政策.

Every dollar and cents count in business. Every second is money (time is money). I won’t mind spending $70 in Dome KLCC for just a supper,or spending time to yamcha for catch ups. But when it comes to business, we really need to calculate for EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR SPENT, WHAT IS THE ROI ?

And to your knowledge, it is the intangible assets and invisible investment that is overlooked or neglected by most people.

人脉就是钱脉，子弹不可以乱乱射!
几十块钱，几百块钱不是什么大数目，但是好几个、几十个几百块就是一笔可观的帐目。

Figures and cash flows (how money are collected and spent) tell a lot.
And make sure, whatever mistakes in previous businesses, don’t repeat (when you lose, don’t lose your lessons….).

The formula is simple:

Time Freedom -> Geographical Freedom -> Financial Freedom

First get your time freedom, then it is optional whether you would want your geographical freedom first or your financial freedom first.

Why geographical freedom?

To me, it’s because I can monitor my businesses anywhere in the world.

One of the best job you may be looking at would be something that you can monitor and manage remotely (运筹帷幄，决战千里)。

Another important part to get your freedom is, always try to find a part time business, NOT a part time job.

(A job is something you sell your time in exchange for money, the amount of money you receive at the end of the day is proportional to the amount of time you are able to “sell off”)

Of course, the categories of money is also important:

1. Money for survival
2. Money for indulgences
3. Money for freedom

Always make sure money for survival is enough in the first place. It is ok to look for jobs when surviving matters. (Chinese proverbs say, “if your horse die, then walk”….. 马死落地行)

Besides, if you were promised a million dollar by next month and you can’t even survive till then, what’s the million dollar really is ?

So, it is a step by step process and it does take time.

No get rich quick things. No free lunch.

When would be the best time to start ? NOW!

Example 2: You bought a property for $800,000 2 years ago, and you sold it off $1,500,000 just last month, you made a gross gain of ~$700,000

If you can convince some one to offer you $200,000 to buy 100,000 pieces of shares from you, how much your company worth now (paper wise) ?

Check out myspace.com story. Fox bought over that myspace.com for $588 million, and within 3 months Google paid Fox $900 milllion just to control the advertising dollars for the next 3 years in myspace.com

The keywords here are: advertising dollars, eyeballs, click through, conversions.

The more value you create to the market, the more money will come to you eventually.

Always keep in mind your original intention.

Don’t go after the money itself as it is not what you really want (don’t worry, I wasn’t quite understand this as well when I was young).

You were not born with it and you won’t bring it to heaven, do you ?

Regarding assets & liabilities, Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad has his own definition in layman term, which I agree to:

Assets is something that put money into your pocket,
Liabilities take money out of your pocket.

Assets feeds you, liabilities eats you.

However, it is important to understand good debt, bad debt, good liabilities, bad liabilities as well.

Cashflow : Cashflow to our financial status is just like the blood to human body.If you have enough cashflow, when opportunities come, you can seize the chance and make the most profit out of it. Enough cashflow will also reduce your cost of funding.

ROI (Return on Investment) : In finance, rate of return (ROR), also known as return on investment (ROI), rate of profit or sometimes just return, is the ratio of money gained or lost (realized or unrealized) on an investment relative to the amount of money invested. The amount of money gained or lost may be referred to as interest, profit/loss, gain/loss, or net income/loss. The money invested may be referred to as the asset, capital, principal, or the cost basis of the investment. ROI is usually expressed as a percentage rather than a fraction.

Leverage : To better understand leverage, using image is a good idea.

To date, I found that the internet is the best leverage tools ever created.
